The Old Mill was built in 1933 under the direction of Justin Matthews, a developer of the surrounding Lakewood neighborhood.

Styled to look like an abandoned gristmill of the early 1800s, this replica was never an actual working mill. Instead, it was created in the hopes of attracting more development in the area.

The running water comes from a water fountain before it babbles down streams and spins the wheel before splashing into a pond with a few resident water fowl. The water continues out into the larger Lake Number Two beyond.

The building may be a replica, but the decorations are from historical buildings. The mill on the first floor dates back to 1828.

The Azaleas and other flowers were in full bloom in early April.
